Every handoffhappensin the open.

Every listing names one of these spots on campus. Meet there, check the item together, and the owner taps Mark handed over in the app.

Safe zones on campus

How a handoff goes

How a safe-zone handoff goes

Two students, one public spot. Here’s the whole thing, from the chat to the return.

Same spot, both ways.
  1. 1

Agree on the spot and the time

Every listing names its safe zone. Settle the day and time in the Arkila chat, so it’s on record for both of you.

  2. 2

    Wait for “Ready for pickup”

Don’t meet until the rental says Ready for pickup. That means an Arkila admin has verified the payment, so no money changes hands at the spot.

  3. 3

    Meet inside the circle

Each zone on the map has a radius. Meet inside it, out in the open where people are around, with your phone on you for the app.

  4. 4

Check it together, then hand it over

The renter checks that it works and matches the listing photos. When you’re both happy, the owner taps Mark handed over and the rental becomes Active.

  5. 5

Come back to the same spot

Return it by the end date at the same zone. The owner checks it and taps Confirm return, and Arkila sends the renter’s deposit back.

  6. Something off? Don’t hand it over

If the item isn’t what was listed, or something feels wrong, walk away. Before payment either of you can cancel for free. After payment, open a dispute with photos and an Arkila admin decides.

What makes a spot a safe zone

Every zone shares the same four rules. Each one’s own note on the map says what that spot is like.

  • Set by Arkila

Arkila admins add and retire safe zones. This page only shows the ones that are live.
  • Named on every listing

An owner has to pick one before anything goes live, so every rental starts with a meeting spot.
  • A circle to meet inside

Each zone has its own radius on the map, with a note on what the spot is like.
  • Same spot, both ways

Use the zone on the listing for the handover and for the return.
